Founder
At the young age of 5, Charity had the aspiration to become a piano teacher. She participated in many piano eisteddfods and featured in many local newspapers for her outstanding piano performances.
In 2013, as the president of Interact Cub at Carlingford High School where she organised student performances in her local community including aged care facilities and foster homes, Charity took the opportunity to establish Horizon Music Academy to teach music to young children.
The name “Horizon Music Academy” originated from the hope for each student to feel a sense of belonging and expand their horizons, reaching their unlimited potentials. Charity endeavoured to create an open space for creativity, awareness and strengthen self confidence as individuals, reaching out and sharing love through music with the community.
As time progressed, Horizon Music Academy has now welcomed over 300 community members, with more than 5000 lessons taught in 3 locations; Carlingford, Fairfield and Merrylands.
Students can learn piano, flute, clarinet, oboe and saxophone for leisure or undertake graded examination. Lessons are tailored to each individual's ability, from beginner to advanced levels.
Theory Music Workshops assist students in broadening their musical knowledge, understanding music history and music analysis.
We provide students studying Music Electives, Music 1, Music 2 and/or Music Extension with additional support to excel in their music education at school.
Music Class for toddlers aged 2 to 4, we provide early exposure to music and help develop their auditory and visual senses. This class includes exploring percussion instruments, developing hand-eye coordination, sing-a-long, counting numbers, learning the alphabet and introduction to music.
Our Twilight Choir provides students with the opportunity to find their voice while enjoying recreational singing as a group activity. They will learn how to sing in pitch, rhythm, and harmonising together with their peers.
For late beginner students who wish to progress quickly in music, we combine practical lessons, sight reading, aural training, techniques class, group music theory, music history and music analysis all in one program.
